The concept of a Wide Flat Nose (WFN) projectile is nothing new or groundbreaking, but it does leave room for improvement. It is a proven projectile design that has been around for many years and has successfully been utilized by hunters all over the world who demand deep and straight-line penetration for their hunt. Lehigh Defense has taken this proven technology, and incorporated it into our very own lineup of improved WFN’s made of solid copper. Lead has a very high density and does a great job at penetrating deep, but it lacks any real structural integrity. Lead is quite soft, especially when compared to copper. The solid copper WFN line of projectiles have a tensile strength of 10-20x greater than conventional lead projectiles. This massive increase in strength allows the WFNs to punch through the hardest of bone with little to no deformation, which nearly eliminates the possibility of deflection due to the projectile deforming. Die Idee eines Wide Flat Nose (WFN) Geschosses ist nicht neu, aber sie bietet Raum für Verbesserungen. Es handelt sich um ein bewährtes Geschossdesign, das seit vielen Jahren existiert und von Jägern auf der ganzen Welt genutzt wird, die eine tiefe und gerade Penetration für ihre Jagd verlangen.
Lehigh Defense hat diese bewährte Technologie übernommen und in unsere eigene Reihe verbesserter WFN-Geschosse aus solidem Kupfer integriert. Blei hat eine sehr hohe Dichte und dringt gut ein, fehlt jedoch an echter struktureller Integrität. Im Vergleich zu Kupfer ist Blei recht weich.
Die soliden Kupfer-WFN-Geschosse haben eine Zugfestigkeit, die 10-20 Mal höher ist als die konventioneller Bleigeschosse. Dieser massive Anstieg der Festigkeit ermöglicht es den WFNs, durch das härteste Knochenmaterial zu dringen, ohne sich nennenswert zu verformen, was die Möglichkeit einer Ablenkung durch Verformung des Geschosses nahezu ausschließt.
