I just bought a new AR15 and the upper to lower fit was not satisfactory. However because it did not pose a safety problem I looked to Brownell's for the fix and found it when a friend recommended the AccuWedge. I installed it and found it needed a bit of trimming to allow the halves to fit. Dremel to the rescue. 1 minute's work and the wedge fit perfectly. No more wobble and loose fit. Thanks Brownell's.

My Colt SBR lower had a lot of slop in it. To much.....



I purchased one of these, trimmed it to fit and not it doesn't rattle anymore.



P.S. Slop between lower and upper has nothing to do with accuracy. Only shooter confidence.

I WAS annoying.

Not enough room under or in back of the TDP on a S&W M&P 15. Trimming this thing was a chore, like trying to hold a piece of jello and tough to get a smooth cut. Had the base down to about 1/8" thick and about 1/8" off the wedge and still couldn't get the rifle closed enough to pin it. While I might recommend this to someone based on its good concept, it just doesn't work with this particular model AR.

So this will require a lot of trimming in order to fit a RR lower. I shaved the bottom plug by 75% of its original height, I also had to chop the lip a little as well. Now that's not too big a deal because the play between my Yankee Hill upper and the lower is 99% gone, 100% no rattle. Just be sure to use a nice, small box cutter.. I used my Cold Steel XL Espada.. that was tricky.

The polymer Accu-Wedge does not tighten receivers "rock solid" as some proclaim. The receivers will twist side to side according to pin fitment. What the Accu-Wedge does is act as a shock absorber or buffer. Without it the parts slam into each other and wear faster.
I've used many receiver combinations and the wedge has always fit although sometimes closing the receivers requires a good grip. Excess force should not be applied to the upper receiver overhang for the charge handle. The wedge will eventually settle in making closing the receivers easier.
The Accu-Wedge is recommended however I use other means to tighten receivers "rock solid."

Wouldn't fit my DPMS without trimming. No difference in tightness between upper and lower.

My Bushmaster wasn't very loose to start with, but I figured for [$], why not try it. Dropped right in and fit perfect. Upper is now rock solid and rattle free.

Fit perfect, installed in a new rifle but I have others that have loosened up and these always work! No trimming needed for me and it dropped rigfht in!

the accu wedge dropped in to my DPMS perfect with no mods, nice and snug now no slop at all

I custom built my AR with a DS lower and generic upper I bought at a gun show, there was some standard play in between each so I tried out this product. It is easy to install, and solved the problem. I can see how some reciever combos might not work with this wedge, but all you need to do is razor blade some slack off, welcome to the world of gunsmithing.

I have been using an ACCU-Wedge in my COLT HBAR II competition carbine for twelve years. I have used in on military ranges, competition ranges and even in a hunting environment. It works perfectly in my Colt HBAR II and in government issue M-4/M-16s, can't comment on X brands as I have no experience with them. When the ACCU-Wedge was first offered, Colt pretty well owned the AR-15 market, so obviously, that's what it was designed for. I don't quite understand complaints where buyer's and users give lower ratings because they had to trim or make adjustments. By having to do so, you now can now easily (and best of all, cheaply) fall into the custom category, instead of the simpleton's world of plugging in something and expecting it to work perfectly. What a simple adjustment to have to make for an inexpensive improvement. By the way, the AR-15/M-16 series weapons are much like the M1911/A1 pistols. Gap and space are normal between upper and lower receivers and work perfectly well as designed. This $5.00 part can take that irritating (but harmless) play out without any harmful modification and makes a best-of-both worlds pleaser, that even an idiot without tools can install/de-install. I highly recommend it. I had one in my government issue M-4 while deployed to Iraq in 04-05 where it functioned flawlessly and with much use. When I returned home, I simply took it out and threw it away. Buy one, trim it if you must, use it, you'll love it.

I purchased an Accu Wedge to use on my RRA AR15 that has a slight play between upper and lower. When Accu Wedge is installed, it obstructs the closing of the upper and lower. I finally used a razor blade to trim bottom of wedge so it would fit. With almost 90% of base cut away, it finally allowed a tight fit but this wedge is not universal. It may work on other brands fine.

It was questionable when I ordered the wedge if it would work with my Rock River Arms Elite Comp. I thought maybe it would fit in my Smith and Wesson M&P 15 but that's not the case as well. Don't order this brand of Accuwedge if you own one of the two ARs I mentioned.

Why are you wasting time reading this review? Just get it!!! It's about the only way you're going to tighten that upper down, and at [$], why argue? It works way better than the JP tensioner that costs 7 times more. If it doesn't tighten enough for your taste, all you have to do is put a spacer underneath it, and you're back in business.

Makes upper and lower assemblies extremely snug fitting. Extra pressure is needed to close the take down pin. I wouldn't try "snapping" the upper group to facilitate mating the assemblies. The wedge would appear to decrease the rate of wear caused by pivot and take down pins jarring their receiver hole during extended shooting sessions. Trimming is NOT recommended.
