Tool Holders & Inserts For Turning

Tooling kits include hardened steel toolholders and high speed steel inserts for turning, threading, profiling, and cut-off work. Inserts are T-15 High Speed Steel (HSS) hardened to Rc 65-67, then finish ground on all sides. They deliver excellent slow speed performance, precision interrupted cuts, and a smooth finish on stainless steel, Inconel, Monel, exotic metals, and plastics. Square shank toolholders and boring bars are CNC machined from 4140/4142 steel bar stock, hardened to Rc 48-50, and then black oxide coated to resist corrosion. Includes two ¼" square shank bars, one right hand (RH) bar and one left hand (LH) bar, a 3/8" shank boring bar, plus two CEMW-2-1.5-1 boring bar inserts and three CCMW-2-1.5-1 square shank bar inserts.

SPECS: One right hand bar, one double-ended left hand bar, .375" shank, 3.5" long, double ended for 50° side cutting edge angle, boring bar, .375" shank, 5" long, .188" wide, full length flat, .365" minimum bore. Boring Bar Inserts - two T-15 HSS CEMW-2-1.5-1 inserts, 20° positive, .250 IC, .093 thick, .110 hole, .146 opening, .015 radius. Right/Left Bar Inserts - three T-15 HSS CCMW-2-1.5-1 inserts, 7° positive, .250 IC, .093 thick, .110 hole, .146 opening, .015 radius. Includes two MS-1152S screws, four MS-1153 screws and one T-7 wrench.

Werkzeughalter & Einsätze zum Drehen

Werkzeugsätze beinhalten gehärtete Stahlhalter und Hochgeschwindigkeitsstahl-Einsätze für Drehen, Gewindeschneiden, Profilieren und Abstecharbeiten. Einsätze sind T-15 Hochgeschwindigkeitsstahl (HSS), gehärtet auf Rc 65-67, dann fertig geschliffen auf allen Seiten. Sie liefern eine ausgezeichnete Leistung bei langsamer Geschwindigkeit, präzise unterbrochene Schnitte und ein glattes Finish auf Edelstahl, Inconel, Monel, exotischen Metallen und Kunststoffen. Vierkantschaft-Halter und Ausdrehstähle sind CNC-gefräst aus 4140/4142 Stahlstangenmaterial, gehärtet auf Rc 48-50, und dann schwarz oxidiert um Korrosion zu widerstehen. Beinhaltet zwei 1/4" Vierkantschaft-Halter, einen rechten (RH) Halter und einen linken (LH) Halter, einen 3/8" Schaft-Ausdrehstahl, zusätzlich zwei CEMW-2-1.5-1 Ausdrehstahl-Einsätze und drei CCMW-2-1.5-1 Vierkantschaft-Halter-Einsätze.

The boring bar broke in the bit mounting (10.04.2016)

The boring bar is so small in the area of the mounting screw for the cutting bit that it cracked and bent the first time I used it. After looking at it closely it is so small in that area I can't imagine it ever working.

Fragile Boring Bar (03.01.2017)

The turning tools work well enough, I actually took a lot of steel off with them. The boring bar, however, broke shortly after it first touched steel. I bored out a brass truing fixture with it and it worked well, but the head broke off, at the screw line, while I was making a .010" pass on CRS.

Best turning tools (12.12.2017)

These are the best tools we have found. Use them regularly in the shop on barreling, installing muzzle brakes, etc. and other projects.

The boring bar sees regular use and we have not had the problems others have noted. It works great.

Boring bar less than ideal ! (17.12.2017)

Like others who purchased the product, the turning tools are great and I have alot of hours on them with out a single complaint.

But when it comes to the boring bar I had the smae issues as others, I was making a 3 thousands pass on a bolt nose recess and it cracked at the mounting screw, I'm not sure if the steel was not hardened properly or if it is just to small.

But hats off to Brownells customer service, I gave them a call about the boring bar and she (Savanna) I believe was her name, immediately apologized for the inconvenience and explained that there had been issues with it and that they had made some changes, she expedited the shipping and received the new kit the next day.

I have not tried the boring bar yet to see how it performs, I will try and update after further testing.
